Acne: causes and consequences
The 3 stages of acne onset.
ACNE: CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES
Acne is a disease of the hair follicle that takes place in 3 steps:
∘ The first step is due to hyperstimulation of the sebaceous gland, which causes excess sebum, and creates the phenomenon of «oily skin».
∘ The second stage consists of the formation of microcomedons favored by the excess and modification of the composition of the sebum.
∘ The third step is the inflammation of the sebaceous gland, following the presence on the skin of a bacterium: Propionibacterium acnes.
The problems to be solved in therapeutics are therefore threefold:
∘ decrease the seborrhea,,
∘ stop the formation of microcomedons
∘ fight inflammation by reducing the presence of Propionibacterium acnes..
